Colon cancer represents the second leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States. Cancer experts consider Colonscopy, a direct visual inspection of the inner walls of the colon with an instrument called an endoscope, the best tool for screening any adult 50 years of age or older. The procedure, however, is indicated at an earlier age if there is a family history of colon cancer or if other risk factors are present. Dr. Baron and our nurse practioner, Jennifer Roberts, perform colonoscopy and sigmoidoscopy at our Clovis Specialty Center. We find this convenient for our patients to have these procedures done in a familiar office setting.
